Confessions of a naughty mummy...

Talking about being a naughty mummy, I am definetely one! Here are some stuff I did recently:

1. I fed my daughter with my favourite Ikea poached salmon.

Hubby and I decided to grab something from Ikea so we had our dinner there as well. Because poached salmon was the Friend's meal of the day (Sunday), I got a portion of it. My little girl could not sit still and I was trying to eat. In order to entertain her, I picked out flakes of the poached salmon (without the sauce) to offer her. She opened her mouth to take it. Then I tried the brocoli and the potato on her. Since she was pretty calm, I decided to continue with my own meal.

Hubby and I were amused because she was actually staring at me while I was eating and each time my fork came towards my mouth, she would open hers and move her head towards the fork. So I offered her a little more and she took them happily...

Verdict: I have decided to offer her steamed salmon this weekend for lunch... If it's good I'll give it to her more frequently...

2. I fed my daughter with my favourite Ikea hotdog bun (without the hotdog)...
A fellow mother in the forum says it is okay to feed baby with bread so I decided to try some on my daughter. Once again she loved it so much, she even protested when she saw the hotdog bun dissappearing fast! And of course her mouth was open, wanting more and the best part was I could see some bread still stuck on her tongue! Greedy...

Verdict: I found out that sugar is an ingredient in most of the bread and buns... Yikes! Explains why she loves them. However, I do not mind giving her some occassionally for variety sake.

3. Mama forgets to bring the pacifier cover and hence force me to take the pacifier...
Yes, I like to get my daughter to take her pacifier when I forget to bring out the cover. This is for the sake of cleanliness... Instead of leaving it around without the cover, what better way than having it in her mouth? LOLZ

4. Mama feeds me with chunks of food...
Call me a crazy mum, I gave her non-puree stuff ocassionally. From small bits of pear, to the small flake of fish, potato, etc. I gave her a whole piece of cold apple one day. She held it in her hands and chewed on it like a teether. And she cried each time she dropped it. My hubby had a good time picking it up and returning it to her...

Don't you think papa and her look so adorable together?

4. Mama is evil, she forces me to eat...
No need to say more. The picture speaks a thousand words!!!!
This was after a Hwa Xia session. It was dinner time so decided to feed her at the PS foodcourt. My guess is the noise in the food court had a hypnotic effect on her and she zonked out after she was 3/4 done with the brown rice cereal.

I am quite happy that my ger is a Healthy Times baby. So far she's okay with the brown rice, oats and the teddy puff (apple- cinnamon flavor).

Smile!!!

Recent Major Milestone Developments:
(A) Ability to move from tummy/crawl to sitting position (and vice versa)
(B) Ability to move from tummy/crawl to kneeling position to standing with support

Everyday, my little girl makes such quick progress for (B), it's really amazing. 29 June 2009 at about 9.18am, I left her in the cot alone and after hearing her scream from the room, I ran in to find her standing at her cot! Every night, she will practise by crawling towards the rail, moving into the kneel position before grabing the rails and pushing herself into a standing position. This will go on for about 1/2 hr to 1 hr before she wants to go to sleep! -_-"

Here are some photos of my little girl playing with her toys...
Standing and trying to grab the music mobile...
The alternative method to playing with the V-tech toy (trying to grab the monkey from behind!)

Wearing the nice dress from Uncle Jeff and playing with her new toy (Busy Balls!)

My little girl on her new ride! She can't really travel in it. Can only sit in the car and play around with it...

Breastmilk is SWEET!

It's been such a long time since the last post! My little gal got sick (AGAIN!) and when she does, she will spread her virus to me by either coughing or sneezing into my face. My GP told me that I should avoid taking my multi-vitamins (Obimin) everyday as it will be too heaty! No wonder I have been falling sick so frequently...

Time flies and my girl is already 7months. It did not seem such a long time ago when I was struggling to maintain my breast milk supply and having to bear with engorgement pain. If I aim to breasfeed her till she is 12 months, I have about 4months and 3 weeks more to go. Taking the medication has caused my breastmilk supply to dip. My 6 hourly pumps can only yield about 240ml versus the previous 300ml. Despite the drop, I would still have enough to give my little one freshly expressed breast milk.

Many of us may not have tasted breastmilk before and some people may even say that breastmilk has no taste! My mother-in-law even told me that formula milk is more fragrant than breast milk. But who can deny the fact that breast milk is actually sweet! Here is the evidence...

The above was a result of my hubby spilling my breast milk. The whole bottle went onto the floor and both of us did not realise that some of the milk had actually manage to get into the cupboard. The milk dried up and the ants at my place were having a major party!!!

It's shopping and poo poo time!!!

Hubby and I have became regular fans at Robinsons Centrepoint (the nursery section) and Ikea (the kids section)... Yes, we have been spending... spending and spending...

We had a leisurely shopping trip today after bringing my little girl to Hwa Xia for her swimming lesson. Star buys include:
- Kodomo Wipes (from Watsons - Buy 10 get 1 free! Each packet is $1.95)
- First Teeth Toothpaste (from Guardian - I bought one with the tooth brush and one extra tube of tooth paste
- Fisher Price Little Super Star (from Robinson - It's a classical stacker. When the rings are stacked, there will be music + light)
- Playskool Step Start Walk n' Ride (from Robinson - $69.90 with lots of freebies!!! And among them is the Pigeon Bowl and Weaning Spoon Set, Pigeon Spoon and Fork Set, Playskool Busy Balls Terrific Textures, Playskool Clipo figure set and Playskool Stack and Nest Barrels. The bonus is I wanted to get a walker + Pigeon feeding tools anyway!)

- Rigchi clothes (1 t-shirt and 2 long pants w feet covers)
- Lovis (2 long pants also w feet covers)

My little one loves the stacker (partly because it's new) but I noticed that she is attracted to things that has music and light! :) The "walk 'n ride" is too early for her to use so I'll keep it in the store. LOL.

WARNING: Please do not scrowl further if you have not had your breakfast, lunch or dinner... Well, as part of my MIL's potty training effort, she has been placing my girl on a potty. Hubby and I bought one from Ikea and it has a small little portion that pokes out at the back. Great since my little girl just started to sit on her own. :) Today, little girl farted and started to make the poo-poo sound, I quickly took out the potty, strip her undies and diaper and on the potty she sat!

Here is a picture of her (actually she's done poo-ing already) and the proud mummy is showing off her poo poo evidence in the Ikea potty!

Mama says I am eating...

The little girl has been having her solids since she was 4 months old. The PD found that her milk intake was pitiful so she suggested that we gave her rice cereal. I finally got down to buying a book on weaning called "The First Foods" and it's written by a group of local dietitian.

Suddenly, there were so many different things which I could feed my little one. So where do I start? I finally relaised that there were some MUST-HAVE equipments that would make weaning and making purees for your baby a breeze. Presenting:

Philips Hand Held Blender (you can see 2 bottles of puree which I made for her. The pale one is apple chicken delight and the orangey one is potato-carrot)

Takahi Slow Cooker
I do not have a grinder... So this little thing of 1.5 or 1.8 litres at $57 helps cook the soft and smooth porridge my girl eats for the past 3 days. What I do is I put in the pre-made stock with the grain and let it cook from 1 am till I wake up at 5am. By 5am, it's all ready and yummy!

(In the background) Aerogaz Multi-Tier Steamer (This is good because no need to watch the fire while steaming the fruits like apple and pear or even vegetables like pumpkin, etc.)

So you may wonder what my little gal has been taking:
Vegetable/Root
(a) Pumpkin
(b) Spinach
(c) Pumpkin + Spinach
(d) Potato
(e) Potato + Carrots
(f) Potato + Fish (disgusting especially when fish turns cold)

Fruits
(a) Apple (Red Delicious or Royal Gala)
(b) Pear (Packham)
(c) Avocardo
(d) Going to try - Peach
(e) Going to try - Papaya
(f) Going to try - Banana (Pisang Mas or in Hokkien - Pang Jio)
(g) Apple + Chicken

Porridge
(a) millet porridge (cooked w veg stock)
(b) white rice chicken porridge (cooked with veg stock)
(c) white rice pork porridge (cooked with veg n pork stock)
(d) millet pork porridge (cooked with pork stock)

So far, her favourite belong to the porridge range. She will open her mouth after tasting the first mouth. I bought the Eu Yang Sang brown rice powder and have yet to give it to her. Tommorrow I will be giving her fish porridge. Hopefully she will love it too!
