A checklist of foods little girl has tried...

Visited the PD clinic recently and saw a very informative poster on foods and whether they will cause allergy... The poster is printed by Nestle Nutrition. So all the credits go to them! (note, my little girl loves the Nestle Rice Cereal!)

Foods which are least likely to cause allergic reactions:

(a) Rice
Currently, my little girl's staple for lunch and dinner. I cook porridge with stock, meat and vegetable.

(b)Pear
Ranked No. 1 favourite fruit! She loves it so much! Even more than apple! I recommend Packham pears. They are more expensive and not as cooling as Chinese pears.

(c) Prune
Never tried before because mummy do not know where to get it from.

(d) Carrots
Plain puree is disgusting! But my little girl likes it mixed in her porridge or with potato!

(e) Apple
2nd favourite fruit. So far, I tried Red Delicious, Gala and Fuji. Gala can be sour sometimes. Fuji is difficult to peel aft steaming. I still prefer Red Delicious - easiest to peel. But may be sour sometimes too.

(f) Pork
Currently my ger's favourite meat. I buy Pork Loin (in 1 block) from NTUC and I will cut it into small cubes to put in the porridge to cook. My girl has been taking pork for quite some time now.

Foods which are well tolerated but may occasionally cause allergic reaction:

(a) Barley, Wheat, Plum, Cabbage, Lamb, Turnip, Cherry, Corn
Hmmm... Didn't know could give cherry. More vegetable to try on her (corn and cabbage)! Will try them one by one. But I'll give lamb a miss since it's supposedly heaty...

(b) Beef
Can't introduce this due to religion...

(c) Spinach
Little girl likes the vegetable with porridge... Definitely not the puree version of the vegetable!

(d) Peach
A great fruit to alternate from the boring apple and pear. Not cheap as well! My girl likes it too...

(e) Chicken
I did give this to her in porridge. But she prefers the texture n taste of pork better than chicken.

(f) Banana
I tried Pisang Mas or Pang Jio (in Hokkien). It's SUPER sweet but she do not like it...

(g) Oat
Healthy Time Oats Cereal! Initially, she rejected the cereal. So I gave it a week's break and re-intro the cereal to her. This time I mixed it with a little bit of Nestle Rice Cereal. Then the pure Oats Cereal which she eats happily! *YEAH!*

(h) Broccoli
Also one type of vegetable that she has accepted. Tried it in her porridge for 1 week. But when she was down with flu, she rejected the porridge that had broccoli. So I switched to another vegetable.

(i) Potato
I puree it for her, the yellow and white meat type. She prefers the white meat potato BUT not as much as pumpkin.

Foods which are most likely to cause allergic reaction:
(a) Berries (Strawberry and Raspberry)
Not tried any of the items in the berries category!

(b) Cow Milk
Little girl is still on full breast milk with really occasional cow milk. She doesn't seem to like it...

(c) Legumes
Also not tried it... If I am not wrong, lentils are part of the legumes family...

(d) Fish
Since PD told me to go ahead with fish, little girl tried ikan kurau for about 1 week. Then when she was sick, she rejected porridge with fish. Recently, I started her on ikan kurau again... Gave her salmon at Ikea and she can accept it...

Food that are highly allergenic:
(a) Seafood (incl. prawn, crab, dried and fresh scallop)
Opps... I actually used dried scallop to cook little girl's porridge... So far gave her for 5 days and she is accepting it pretty well.

(b) Peanut and Egg White
Definitely not giving until she's much much older!
